It is extremely important to be in control of the vehicle at all times even in very difficult situations. The Unimog is fitted with 4-channel ABS as a standard feature to prevent the wheels from locking so that it can still be steered even following an emergency or full braking. The standard safety features – including the automatic load-dependent brake system (ALB), pneumatic dual-circuit brake system and the two-stage engine brake – ensure that the Unimog comes to a precise stop even if the grip traction on the road surface varies or it is carrying different kinds of loads on hilly routes.
