Leinfelden-Echterdingen - In recent years, it has become a tradition for Daimler Truck employees to get involved in helping socially disadvantaged children in the run-up to Christmas. This year is no exception: For the Christmas campaigns "Wunsch-Sterne für Kinder," "Schenk ein Päckchen," and "Starke Päckchen," colleagues at the Daimler Truck locations in Gaggenau, Kassel, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Mannheim, Neu-Ulm, and Wörth are busy packing gifts - from cuddly toys to coloring books and colored pencils to winter scarves.

Jürgen Hartwig, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG responsible for Human Resources and Labor Director: "I am very pleased that our colleagues are able to bring joy to so many children at Christmas with their personal commitment. It's nice to know that we can make children's eyes light up and give families who are not so well off a few carefree hours at the holidays."

Michael Brecht, Chairman of the General Works Council of Daimler Truck AG, can only confirm this: "When we share, there is enough for everyone - this is especially true at Christmas. Children are the weakest members of society and they have had to endure many restrictions in recent times. Some have been particularly affected - this is where our colleagues show solidarity. That pleases me very much and makes me proud. "

In the "Wunsch-Sterne für Kinder" Christmas campaign initiated by the Bürgerstiftung Leinfelden-Echterdingen, children write their Christmas wish on a colorful star. Daimler Truck employees can choose one of the stars and thus fulfill an individual child's wish in time for Christmas. There is also the opportunity to support the campaign by making a donation. The gifts will be distributed by the Office for Social Services in Leinfelden-Echterdingen.

As part of the "Schenk ein Päckchen" and "Starke Päckchen" programs, Daimler Truck employees have been packing parcels with beautiful and useful items for socially disadvantaged girls and boys between the ages of one and 17 in recent weeks. Depending on the age group, the packages contain small gifts and surprises such as cuddly toys, writing utensils, magazines, books, and sweets.

Daimler Truck works closely with charitable organizations in Germany on the campaigns, for example the Bürgerstiftung Leinfelden-Echterdingen, the Murgtal Tafel Gaggenau e.V., the Tafel Kassel e.V., the DRK-Tafel Mannheim, Hockenheim and Edingen-Neckarhausen and the Caritas Verband Baden-Baden. The social institutions are responsible for distributing and handing out the gift packages.

Daimler Truck employees at the U.S. locations in Detroit, Fort Mill and Portland have also initiated various campaigns to help socially disadvantaged children in the run-up to Christmas.
